Q. - How old do you have to be to have a tattoo?
A.- 18 is the required age, by law.
Q.-Can i get a tattoo at 16 with my parents present or with consent?
A.- No, in the eyes of the law it is assault to tattoo any body under the age of 18.
Q.-I was told i couldnt drink alcohol before my tattoo, is that true?
A.- Its not recommended as it causes bleeding in a lot of cases which in turn causes the ink to be pushed out thus making for a bad looking and patchy tattoo.
Q.- I am on medication can i still have a tattoo?
A.- It all depends on the medication that you have. A tattooist is advised not to tattoo anyone with advanced form of epilepsy, heart defects that required warfarin or other blood thinning medication. If you have any worries consult your GP.
Q- Why have the colours in my old tattoo faded?
A.- Several answers : Depending on the age of the tattoo. over the years the UV from the sunlight has broken down the pigments. if it is a newer tattoo then maybe the ink was of a lower quality, or maybe you were drunk at the time?!
Q.- How much will my tattoo hurt?
A.- How long is a piece of string? ..... Everybody is different, it is all down to where the nerves are in the body, some people are more sensitive in certain areas. Small tattoo's in most places should be no more than an unpleasant scratch.
Q.- What's the best thing to do to look after my new tattoo?
A.- Many tattooists have different opinions on this. As a rule, we recommend simply dove soap and water. The colder the water the better. Make sure to keep it clean and wash it twice daily, for the first 2-3 weeks.
